This is something you can do to help improve access for our seniors who need it most. Presently medicare only covers chiropractic manipulation, but does not include prerequisite examinations and diagnostics that may be required before providing chiropractic care. In Illinois, chiropractic physicians are also trained and licenced to provide other services that include: physical therapy, nutritional counseling and conservative treatments for patients at risk for diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. If Medicare expanded its coverage of chiropractic services it would only improve the quality of care that we could provide our seniors and overall healthcare costs would be reduced.
The Problem: Too Much Technology Time Leads to Poor Posture
We all know that sitting at a keyboard, prolonged game playing and excessive tablet use lead to poor posture and tight muscles. Modern life requires excessive use of technologies, as much as we would like to unplug, devices have become a ubiquitous part of both our work and private lives.
It seems to the doctors that this problem is even more pronounced in our children and they express concern as to how this affects kids still developing and malleable bodies. As the schools in our area move to 1:1 tablet/laptop use, the image of the teen laying on their beds doing homework is replaced by the teen laying on their bed or curled on the couch with both their tablet and phone, texting and typing for hours after school each day.
A whole body solution
All of us, adults and children alike can benefit from regular quick and easy stretching exercises to help strengthen and support the muscles damaged by excessive device use. The following playlist can be completed almost anywhere. It is a great habit to practice these stretches whenever you find yourself using technology for an hour or more.
A text neck solution
For those who find themselves texting or gaming, the first three videos on this list can be a quick and easy refresher.
